Vic Amato's 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Sportsroof.
Sadly Vic had to sell this great looking car only a
little while ago so as a small tribute we'd thought
we'd share this great photo with you.
Vic said "It was a hard decision to make but times
are tough so I had to sell it. I'm very sorry to see it
it go." Vic was one of only a small group of
racers that gave passenger rides at special
events. "I didn't mind taking people for passenger
rides in it because it was so much fun that I
wanted other people to experience that fun as
The car was originally manufactured on the 9th
January 1970, 3 days ahead of the scheduled
build date. The colour was medium blue metallic
paint with Clarion Knit/Corinthian Vinyl bucket
seats. It had a 3.25 standard axle ratio and a 3-
speed manual gearbox.
The dealer was Beasey Ford Co in Cincinnati
Ohio. The car was ordered with the following
optional extras.
Three Speed Manual Transmission
White Sidewall EX0X14 Belted Tyres
AM/FM Radio
Tinted Glass-Complete
And then in 1980 it was given some real attitude
by Dana Davis, a dedicated Ford fan. He fitted a
429 Cobra-Jet Ford Big-Block and raced in the
Indianapolis Raceway Park's ET Series and
recorded a best time of 10.55 at 129.80 mph.
