Let

We think it’s fair to say that the hardest working bunch of
guys and gals at a race weekend must be the track crew. If
it’s not for their hard work and dedication the race track
would not be in the top condition that it always is. But what
do they do? We spoke to Robert Day to get an insight into
the track activities that go on over a championship week-
end at Santa Pod Raceway...
How long does it take to prep a dry track ready for pro racing?
To prep the track for Pro racing a fair bit is done prior to the event, but on any
given race day prep will start at 7am and takes about 1½ to 2 hours.
To prep a track from wet can take a lot longer, depending on the weather
conditions. Once the rain has stopped then it can take 2 to 3 hours. On
occasions it has been longer due to the amount of water in a downpour.
Either way the track needs to be dry and prepared to make the track safe for
racing.
